The Bicentennial of the Mexican Revolution
"The Bicentennial of the Mexican Revolution" mural was created in 2011 by muralist Jorge Rodríguez. The idea behind this mural is to tell the history of Mexico from pre-Hispanic times and the Spanish conquest up to the revolution. This artistic work also presents Mexico’s cultural richness in music, dance, clothing, craftsmanship and its predominantly catholic religion. According to the muralist, during the creation of this mural it was important to include some of La Gran Plaza de Fort Worth's history as it serves as a cultural center for many migrant communities. In the upper right hand corner, you will notice a lake and a steam train, these are both iconic symbols that date back to the times before the construction of the Seminary South Shopping Mall now known as La Gran Plaza de Fort Worth. This mural can be found near the Tricolor Auto Stage in front of the retail store Melrose. The artwork is mostly designed with tri-ply wood and acrylic paint.
