SMALL BUSINESS SPOLIGHT - SHOE EXPO
In an era of big-box retailers and online shopping, one local family is proving that personalized service and community roots never go out of style.
For more than 19 years, Shoe Expo has been a cornerstone of La Gran Plaza de Fort Worth, offering carefully selected footwear and a warm, familiar welcome to every customer who walks through the door. Founded in 2007 by husband-and-wife team Angelica and Martin Lechuga, the store began with a simple mission: provide quality shoes and treat every customer like family.
"We offer a wide variety of footwear for the whole family and for any occasion," said Angelica Lechuga. "Shoes for a night out in the town or a wedding, shoes for school, cowboy boots imported from Mexico, you name it we have it."
Unlike large chain stores, Shoe Expo focuses on one-on-one service. Angelica and Martin take time to measure customers’ feet, recommend proper fits, and explain the differences between brands and styles. From supportive walking shoes for seniors to durable sneakers for growing kids, the store emphasizes both function and fashion.
"Every shoe style we offer is carefully selected, we make an effort to keep up with new trends," said Angelica. "Our goal is to make sure our shoppers leave satisfied with their purchase."
In a fast-paced retail world, Shoe Expo remains a reminder that sometimes, the best fit is a family business built on trust.
